Sam has been coaching for many years in various capacities. His college swim career included a two time All-American designation in the 1650. After school, Sam changed his focus to triathlon and his most notable results include two top 8 Overall finishes at Age Group Nationals and 2nd in the Elite category at St. Anthonys. Also, he has never placed lower than 3rd overall in the swim portion in any race.
Having been USAT Level I and USAC Level III Certified, his real-world experience gives him a deep understanding of the training required to achieve peak performances in Olympics, Sprints, and on-road cycling events.
While Sam enjoys shorter events and dabbles on the dark side of bike racing as a CAT3 road cyclist, Sam has also coached many first-time Ironman athletes. He enjoys working with athletes of all performance levels – he cares only about an athletes commitment to the program, not genetic giftedness.
