Michelle has been involved with the Atlanta Triathlon Club and Energy Lab for several years in various roles supporting race logistics, the USAT National Club Challenge, charity, outdoor bike coach and indoor cycling instructor. She is a USA Triathlon Level 1 Certified Coach and enjoys working with those new to the half ironman/ironman distance to those who have moved past the beginner phase and are looking to become more competitive in the sport.
After growing up on summer swim teams and swimming all through high school, Michelle found herself struggling to find something she enjoyed enough to keep her active. She likes to say she “sponsored” a gym for a decade before her and her husband Ed tried their first super sprint triathlon and immediately got hooked on the sport five years ago. She started out middle of the pack in her age group the first two years but has progressed thanks to One-on-One Coaching to several Age Group Podium finishes and qualifying for Age Group Nationals two years in a row. Her latest focus has been training during pregnancy and with small children as she has a 15 month old daughter, Julia and a son due in the summer of 2019.
Michelle enjoys continuing to build her knowledge about the sport and is excited to share her learnings with others interested in giving it a try or seeking a new personal record. She’d love to talk to you about her passion for indoor cycling, which enabled her to make her weakest sport her best of the three, and her newly found love of group swims.
