We have other great news to announce. Coach Michelle also just passed her Level I USAT exam and is officially a USA Triathlon Certified Coach! Michelle has already been working with athletes in the Rookie 2 Race program and now will also be helping athletes one on one. We’re excited to have Michelle on the team! Here are some more details about Michelle’s plans:
What do you like most about coaching?
I have really enjoyed coaching for the Rookie to Race Program this year and am excited to see my athletes race this season. I enjoy coaching athletes at all levels, whether they are completely new to the sport or looking for the support/structure to take their training to the next level.
What made you want to become a coach?
I spent my first years in the sport thinking I should wait until I “get fast enough” to have a coach. Fortunately I started training with other coached athletes and coaches and realized that was just silly. I have now been working with an awesome coach for a couple years and it has been a gamechanger both for my race performances and my overall enjoyment of the sport. I also started as an Atlanta Triathlon Club Bike Coach and Indoor Instructor at Energy Lab and realized how much I enjoyed working with and helping others succeed. Having a great role model and coaching experience personally as well as the single sport coaching made me realize it was time to take the next step and get involved in the Rookie to Race Coaching program.
What are you most excited about?
With a long career in HR, I know how important it is for you to find a way to do the things that you love. I’m excited that triathlon coaching brings together my passion for the sport, my professional experience of helping and coaching others, and my Psychology graduate education. It feels like a perfect fit!
